Vishal Sikka was born on June 1, 1967 in Madhya Pradesh. He decided to do his bachelors from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in the field of computer engineering, but left the university and went to Syracuse University in New York where he did a B.S. in computer sciences. Later, in the year 1996, Vishal Sikka completed his Ph.D. from Stanford University.
He was the Indian American Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the Infosys. On 18th August, 2017, Vishal Sikka decided to step back from the post of CEO and MD of Infosys. He was made to stay as the Executive Vice Chairman of Infosys, for the smooth functioning of Infosys and also till the time a new CEO and MD was found. But, he decided to quit from that post as well on 25th August, 2017 when Nandan Nilekani took over the position.
Before being a part of Infosys, Vishal Sikka was a member of the Global Managing Board and the Executive Board of SAP. He joined SAP in the year 2002 and was the head of the group responsible for the innovation that involved strategic decisions. With his outstanding work performance and creative skills, Sikka was promoted as the Chief Executive Officer of SAP. But, because of some personal reasons he decided to leave SAP in the year 2014.

During the time, when Vishal Sikka was appointed as the CEO of Infosys, he carried home Rs. 4.56 crore as salary as per the statistics. In the year 2015-16, Sikka earned a salary of Rs. 48.73 crore which included the entire bonus as well as all the incentives. The amount that Sikka earned was the highest amongst his peers.
But eventually Vishal also faced many ups and downs in his career life at Infosys. His salary by the end of the financial year; March 2017 fell as much as 67 percent. He earned Rs. 16.01 crore in 2016-17. The amount of his bonus and incentives also fell by a huge amount. However, he managed to compensate the amount with the help of performance based incentives.
Vishal Sikka’s net worth at present accounts to stock options worth $9 million and annual compensation which amounts to $13 million.
After his resignation, Vishal Sikka informed the people that he has no particular plans for his future as such and he wants to spend some time with his loved ones. He is most likely to start his new job at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE).
